Rowenta vs. a different brand

It's been a little dream of mine to have a Rowenta iron. Well, after some long thought, I decided to purchase one. Mind you, I'm the queen of CHEAP....I don't buy anything unless I have too. (Guess this is why I sew too). A few months ago.....I go into my sewing area and there it is -- the top is broken in half on the floor. Seems my sweet kitty, bless her heart, decided to jump on the ironing board and cause it to fall.

The reason for this post....does anyone prefer Rowenta irons? Are they really better? I went out and bought a Black and Decker, but Rowentas are on sale this week at Joann Fabrics......should I?

I loved my Rowenta when I had one. I dropped it and broke it and I, too, have been considering another one. I'm presently using a steam master Sunbeam and it's pretty good. My husband likes starched shirts, so I iron alot!!! I own about 6 irons and could have probably bought the best Rowenta by now with the investment I have in the ones sitting on my shelf!! There's another brand that's supposed to be really good, too, but I can't think of what it is right now. i'll try to find out and let you know.

I was so glad when Black and Decker started making their "classic" model again because I really like a heavier iron. I did buy a Rowenta as a birthday gift to myself several years ago, but it just was not heavy enough for me. I finally bought a gravity fed steam iron about 6 or 8 months ago and I AM IN LOVE WITH IT! I'm giving the Rowenta to my daughter.

If you get the Rowenta, please post about it. It seems like the Rowentas are either a hit or miss.
